Maison Carrée., the Romans Temple
One of the many places that are part of the history is the city of Nîmes is the Maison Carrée. The building is one way by Arènes de Nîmes walk very close and easy to find. Roman era heritage building which was built between one to five years after the AD was once used as a temple or sacred place of the Roman nation. Which then serves as a venue, and then became the church in the middle of the century and eventually used as a museum of antique to the present. One thing that is interesting to visit this place is that it’s free.
Like several towns across France, for travelers is available on a small railway facility which brings us around to visit the city, of course pay. I never ride the train when bringing parents on vacation to visit Nîmes. You can find a museum called Musée du Vieux-Nîmes showing off one of their antique textiles which is now arguably become the world’s most famous ingredient of jeans material.
Imagine who would have thought if the jeans material originally came from a small town in southern France. Originally a blue-colored material was woven by the artisans of Nîmes and used by field workers, such as grape pickers and miners. Only later around the 19th century, weaving was brought to America and changed mix of material. However, this type of underwear is called by the name of denim, which means de-Nîmes (from Nîmes). I am sure many people who do not know denim origins, thought that the material was originally from the American jeans.
Nîmes is a tourist town, which is always crowded visited by foreign tourists. Revisiting the beauty of this small town could do with a stroll in the old city. There are antique theater can be visited, the church of Notre-Dame et Saint-Castor-beautiful as well as several other museums that are within the old city. However Nîmes also has a contemporary art museum named Carrée d’art, buildings of glass that showcase contemporary artwork.
How about the restaurant? Along the major roads that surround the arena, Maison Carrée to found a museum of contemporary many restaurants ranging from European cuisine, Spanish to Chinese. One of the favorite restaurants is the Au Flan Coco. A tiny restaurant with a terrace has a menu that is always changing every day. Unfortunately, this restaurant is only open during the day except Saturday rose we must reserve a seat.
