What to Look for in Walking Shoes

When you look for a pair of good walking shoes, there’s a lot to consider. The last thing you need half way through a ten or fifteen mile hike is to feel the start of a blister.  You may hear from one person that the shoe they wear is great, and yet someone else may think that particular shoe is uncomfortable. Well the reason is we’re all different and we all have different requirements.

If you do a lot of distance walking then your feet will do a lot of sweating. So make sure you get a shoe that has Gore-Tex technology which allows your foot to breath but still keeps them dry. Any sweat that can’t escape will eventually cause blistering.

Some of the best walking shoes around are ones that are leather uppers with Gore-Tex lining but have a cloth material around the ankle area to stop the shoe rubbing. This way you are getting the best comfort with the most practical uses from your shoe. When you are deciding which shoe you prefer, make sure you chose a quality product with materials that can be treated and maintained. A well looked after pair of hiking shoes will last for years.
